Statement:
As a transdisciplinary artist, intentionality is at the core of my practice. I create immersive installations by carefully considering how material properties, construction methods, and initial audience perceptions will contextualize the work. My installations can be characterized by bold surface treatments and surreal elements that leverage scale and repetition to keep you in the space as long as I can (of your own volition of course). I want you to stop and think; I want you to ask questions. I want to give you designated space to do that. My aim is to provoke critical examination of social constructs by creating spaces for multi-sensory engagement with complex topics. This is why my process blends three dimensional objects, photography, and text into installations that invite you to interact. The design of my works are heavily guided by components of social theory such as experiential learning, and my current topics of focus revolve around accessibility and autonomy as it applies to disability, gender, and ethnicity.
